Sharon Lee
Growth Team — New York
Sharon brings 15 years of experience in local government and electoral campaigns, specializing in strategic communications, community partnerships, crisis management, labor relations, and public policy.
Background
Through the apex of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Lee served as the Borough President (county executive) of Queens, NY, home to nearly 2.4 million residents and the most diverse county in the continental United States. Before that, Lee served as Deputy Borough President and communications director. She was an integral part of the team driving the administration’s top priorities and helped shape public positions on key issues.
Previously, Lee served as senior advisor and press secretary to the former New York City Comptroller. Sharon helped develop and execute strategies for award-winning transparency initiatives such as Checkbook NYC launching unprecedented access to information about the City’s expenditures, and MWBE Report Card NYC, a performance measurement tool to publicly track City agencies’ progress in achieving their MWBE goals. She was instrumental in other innovative priorities such as the Pension Investment Reform Proposal of 2011, the $1 billion Capital Acceleration Plan, and Retirement Security Initiative NYC. She was also an integral member of the team that identified and exposed the fraud and mismanagement of the infamous CityTime case, which ultimately led to the recoupment of an historic $500 million for the City of New York.
Lee also served as a policy director in the New York City Council, ran numerous political campaigns including state and citywide races, and led various transition teams, most recently for the Queens District Attorney.
She joined the Ichor Team in 2020.
