Michael Boots
Administration Team — New York
Michael is an experienced human resources professional, with a background in the public health sector, including genetic and genomic research technology, and advancing healthcare for all communities through data-driven insights.
Background
As the Human Resources Manager of the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences, within the Mount Sinai Health System, he was tasked with managing all the HR needs for an institute experiencing exponential growth. He was primarily responsible for building out the HR processes as the department grew, as well as recruiting over 1,000 employees within his 8.5 years on staff. In addition to his primary responsibilities, Michael also helped launch a startup research technology company, Sema4 Genomics, Inc., whose primary mission was to transform the quality of healthcare for all through mastery of the digital universe of data. Before that, Michael was managing the Jack Martin Fund Clinic/Institute for Advanced Medicine. This was an outpatient medical practice servicing the primary and long-term care of patients primarily in underserved communities with specialized needs, including the uninsured, those living with HIV/AIDS, and recently incarcerated men and women who are transitioning to a life of their own.
Michael’s passion for a career where he can see the end result of his work is what initially drove him into healthcare, and now subsequently into a more community-focused industry.
Outside of Work
Michael is a University at Albany graduate, where he was on the Albany State Ski Team, for which his upstate New York roots came in handy. He’s an avid animal lover and is often fostering a dog in his home, to ensure they don’t have to spend time in a cage. As an eternal optimist, he enjoys adventure traveling, outdoor and architectural photography, and anything that ends with a smile!
