Chelsea Ordóñez Barreto
Community Team — New York
Chelsea has deep experience with urban-focused research, particularly affordable housing, and she is passionate about the Latinx experience in the U.S.
Background
Prior to joining the Ichor team in 2020, Chelsea served as Assistant Project Manager at the NYC Housing Partnership, where she collaborated with Hudson Valley leaders to develop potential sites for transit-oriented development and affordable housing. Her interest in politics was ignited in New York in 2016 during the Micah Lasher for State Senate campaign, where she engaged Latinx voters and relayed campaign messages in Spanish. She had a previous stop at Ichor as a Research Assistant in 2017, where she was introduced to urban innovation as a vehicle for economic mobility, and throughout her four years at New York University, she was extensively involved with the Office of Residential Life & Housing Services.
She is eager to participate in “smart city” development, focusing particularly on the interplay between housing and transportation in New York City.
Outside of Work
Chelsea is a lover of comedy and can usually be found at the Comedy Cellar or The Grisly Pear during her off time. She is also known for her love of good coffee and great Peruvian food.
