Belinda is an experienced public health professional, having held both nonprofit and public roles.
Background
As a senior organizer at the SEIU, she conducted outreach into communities with high needs and limited funding options to diversify the pool of grant recipients and created policies to benefit small, BIPOC-led organizations and projects. She regularly engaged and mobilized healthcare workers on patient safety, quality improvement, and working conditions, and assisted with the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements for NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation and more than 2000 healthcare workers. Belinda has also served as chief of staff to the deputy director at Woodhull Hospital Women’s Clinic and as a research coordinator at the Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She has a master’s degree in public health from Case Western University.
