Community Team — Chicago
Ahmed is an advocacy and public affairs professional who has wide-ranging experience working in the civic engagement and nonprofit sectors.
Background
He served as the Staff Attorney for Arab American Family Services, a social-service nonprofit organization. In that role, he led the organization’s legal, public policy, and community organizing efforts. Previously, Ahmed was the Political and Outreach Director for GoodWerk, a Chicago-based political digital platform, and served as an AmeriCorps VISTA, where he represented clients in police custody and created an advertising initiative to boost fundraising and recruit attorneys.
His experience in community organizing makes him the ideal candidate to lead Ichor Chicago’s community engagement initiatives.
Outside of Work
Ahmed enjoys playing basketball, attending matinee movies, and creating music playlists for every occasion.
Insights
The recent Supreme Court decision to strike down race-conscious affirmative action programs in higher education reversed decades of legal precedent on remedial approaches to increase enrollment of historically disadvantaged communities.
